Library Assistant – Adult Coordinator

Job Summary: This position assists in assigned functions of the Catoosa County Library.

Job Duties:

  • Provides patron services at the front desk; assists patrons with applications, checking materials in and out, renewing materials, collecting overdue fines, and other tasks as needed
  • Answers telephone; provides information and assistance; takes and forwards messages
  • Assists patrons with library computers and other electronic resources
  • Shelves library materials; read shelves to determine proper shelving
  • Assists with special library events and programs
  • Assists with creating and maintaining library displays
  • Opens and closes library as assigned
  • Develops and implements library programs and services for assigned patron groups, including youth, teens, and/or adults
  • Researches and determines the interests and program needs of assigned patron groups
  • Assists with outreach and promotional activities
  • Collaborates as assigned with management in collection development
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • One year clerical or library related experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of library programs and services
  • Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs
  • Knowledge of patron services principles and practices
  • Skill in providing services to patrons
  • Skill in maintaining files and records
  • Skill in operating such office equipment as a calculator, copier, and facsimile machine
  • Skill in interpersonal relations
  • Skill in oral and written communication

 4) Applicants for positions that require a commercial motor vehicle at any time will be required to undergo controlled substances and at our discretion, alcohol testing prior to employment and will be subject to further testing throughout their period of employment. Applicants will be asked to sign forms for release of information from previous employers in all cases where driving a cmv was one of your functions. Failure to sign will prevent this employer from using you as a cmv driver.
