Board of Commissioners Receive Proposed Fiscal Year 2027 Budget

Proposal Includes Millage Rate Rollback

The Catoosa County Board of Commissioners received the proposed Fiscal Year (FY) 2027 budget for review that assumes a rollback of the County’s general government millage rate to 4.491 from the FY 2026 millage rate of 4.641 mills.

The proposed FY 2027 general government budget is $47,013,292 and reflects a $152,833 (0.33%) increase over the FY 2026 budget that is needed to maintain public safety, infrastructure, judicial, and general government services. The proposed budget includes an approximate $1-million transfer to the Capital Projects Fund.

The county’s Finance Department reviewed budget requests and held meetings with department heads in June to discuss their budget needs, and the Board of Commissioners held public work sessions on June 16 and 30.

The proposed FY 2027 budget is available for public review at the Administrative Offices Building, 800 Lafayette Street, Ringgold and online at: www.catoosacountyga.gov/home/showpublisheddocument/4549/639202553677354096.

The Board of Commissioners will hold a special called public hearing on the proposed FY 2027 budget on Monday, July 27 at 6:00 p.m. in the Administrative Building Meeting Room, 800 Lafayette Street, Ringgold. The Board is scheduled to adopt a FY 2027 budget on Tuesday, August 4 at 6:00 p.m. The FY 2027 budget takes effect October 1, 2026.
