Job Summary: Provide childcare for the children of the adult students enrolled in the GED and family literacy program (day classes).
Job Duties:
- Greet each child in a warm and friendly manner
- Daily planning and execution of all activities
- Supervise children in restrooms and change diapers as needed
- Supervise children on outdoor playground as weather permits
- Prepare daily attendance reports
- Utilize volunteer aides constructively
- Keep the room clean which includes bathroom, floors, tables, chairs, walls, windows, shelves, toys, equipment, sinks, dressing table, baby cribs, highchairs, etc.
- Launder childcare linens: blankets, towels, etc.
- Decorate room with seasonal and educational material. Material furnished by Literacy Center
- In the event there are no children present, clerical assistance will be requested and overseen by the Executive Director and/or Educational Coordinator
- Attend monthly Literacy meetings and help with various projects as requested
- Participate in orientation and training.
Education and Experience:
- 18 years of age
- High school diploma or general education diploma (GED)
- Childcare experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Skill in the welfare, health and safety of children
- Ability to maintain a good relationship with children, parents, staff, Executive Director and instructors, and volunteer aides
- Never have been found by credible evidence, e.g. a court or jury, a department investigation or other reliable evidence to have abused, neglected or deprived a child or adult or to have subjected any person to serious injury as a result of intentional or grossly negligent misconduct as initially evidenced by an oral or written statement to this effect obtained by the administrator from the employee at the time of hiring
- Have current evidence of successful completion of a training program in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) which have been offered by certified or licensed health care professionals and which dealt with the provisions of emergency care to infants and children
- Not have made any materially false statements concerning qualification requirements either to the department or the licensee or administrator
- Completion of background screening confirming no convictions for criminal offenses
